Ring and ride schemes operate within most towns and rural locations throughout Devon and provide public transport for people who find it physically difficult to use conventional public transport services or who live remotely from public transport services. They provide a service into local towns to allow passengers the opportunity to shop and use local amenities.
The difference between a ring and ride and a conventional bus service is the flexible routing and the fact that the minibus is specially adapted with a wheelchair lift and removable seats to accommodate wheelchairs.
Passengers can book a journey in advance by phoning their local scheme, and are picked up at their door with assistance from the driver if necessary.
